For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

The Strategic Human Resources Management directorate (SHRM) offers undergraduate and graduate level and recent Associates and Bachelors graduates within one year the opportunity to engage in practical hands on human resources work to further their educational experience.  You will engage in entry to mid-level administrative support to the Livermore Laboratory Employee Services Association (LLESA) and will assist other areas as needed.

Essential Duties
At the Undergraduate level or Recent Grad level:

- Assist LLESA with the preparation and delivery of numerous on-site work-life special events such as: Farmers Market, Music Events, Car Show, Safety Fair, Summer BBQ, Blood Drive and other engaging on-site activities.
- Assist with customer services functions for on-site gym and fitness area.
- Develop content, layout, and design of marketing materials, presentations, website graphics, e-blasts and other marketing communications utilizing various software such as PowerPoint.
- Research speakers and programs for future events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In addition, at the Graduate level:
- Under limited direction and supervision, will manage special events such as: Farmers Market, Music Events, Car Show, Safety Fair, Summer BBQ, Blood Drive and other engaging on-site activities.

Qualifications
At the Undergraduate level or Recent Grad level:

- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing an undergraduate degree or a recent Associates or Bachelors graduate within one year in  human resources, recreation/hospitality, event planning, non-profit management or related field.
- Experience providing administrative support in a fast-paced environment of rapidly changing priorities, deadlines and frequent interruptions.
- Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with Microsoft applications for the PC.
- Experience developing promotional material and marketing collateral.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
In addition, at the Graduate:
- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree in human resources, recreation/hospitality, event planning, non-profit management or related field.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
 

Security Clearance:  None required.

 

Note:   This is a Temporary Student Intern appointment.  This assignment is for a full-time position for three months starting in June. Refer to the Scholar Program website at https://scholars.llnl.gov/for additional student employment information.
